There are many objections one could
raise to what the
Bible says about God and our relationship to Him. Here we
have provided
brief answers to some of the more common objections.
God Doesn't Really Exist
This
objection can take several forms. You could say that God does
not exist for
anyone, or you could say God can exist for some people but not for
others.
The second arguement is the same as the first because if God
only exists relatively, He doesn't really exist at all, except in
someone's imagination. If God exists, He is over all or He
doesn't exist.
This objection is very much at the
heart of the debate around creation and evolution. Did God
create
the universe as the Bible says or did the universe come into existance
through cosmic forces over billions of years? We
believe the Bible's account of creation is literally true.
This view receives much scorn but it is not because
the
Bible's account of creation is somehow scientifically
unsound. The real issue is more fundamental than that.
If there is a God who created us, we must answer to that God.
On the other hand, if there is no creator, there is no one to
answer to and we can do whatever we want. That is the real
issue.
So
are we and our world really a result of chance?
Is that
explanation reasonable enough to stake your soul on it?
It takes faith to believe in God, but if you think about it,
you
realize it takes at least as much faith to believe
there is no
God. It has become more fashionable these days to
not believe in
God, but popular opinion doesn't make something true. If you

creation, take a look at the resources available from

God has No Right to
Demand My Obedience
If
God exists and He created us,
He has the right to expect us to do what
He says. It is really as simple as that, but it
runs even deeper.
The Bible says
God is Holy - meaning He is
morally perfect.
We're not, thus we have a problem. He must demand
moral
perfection of us because He's holy, and we are far short of moral
perfection.
We will all be judged according to what we
have done.
The Bible describes
God's
final judgement of
sinners as a truly frightful event. Do you really
think you can
stand before God and argue He has no right to judge you? You
can better
stand in front of a category 5 hurricane and defy its power than stand
before a holy God and defy His.
I'm Not Perfect but I'm
Better than Other People
It
may be tempting to find some confidence in simply being better than
other people. Whoever you are, there's no doubt you can point
out
someone who is a "worse" sinner than you. Maybe you've even
done
a few good things for which you expect to receive credit. If
you
think God will
accept you because you're not as bad as other people, you've missed an
important point. God doesn't grade on a curve. He
doesn't
measure our behavior against other people. He
measures it against
His own moral perfection, and none of us meet that standard.
That's why you need a savior. You need someone who
is
morally perfect to take the punishment for your sin.
You need
Jesus Christ.
