We have a problem we cannot
solve. The
world we live in isn’t what it ought to be. War, famine,
disease,
greed, hatred and so many other evils lead to suffering and
death. Does it get any better than this? The world
seems
broken because IT IS BROKEN. Has it always been this way or
did something happen?
The Bible tells us that the world was
not always as we see it today. There once was no suffering
and no
death. When God finished making the world, He said it was “
very
good”. That sounds great, but unfortunately, it’s a
world that no
longer exists. So what happened?
Adam and Eve, our
first parents, willingly chose to rebel against God and
ignore
His
command. In the Bible, disobedience against God is
called
sin. Adam and Eve sinned against God, and the moment they did
everything changed. The perfect and pure world God made was
corrupted – including Adam and Eve themselves. Every bad
thing we
experience in the world today is a result of Adam and Eve’s rebellion
against God, but before we lay the blame for the world’s problems fully
on
Adam and Eve, we need to take a close look at ourselves.
The
Bible says
every single one of us have followed the
same path as
Adam and Eve. We have willingly chosen to rebel
against
God. We sin against God and do it purposefully. If
God
summoned us to court today and charged us with breaking His commands,
we would all be found guilty because
we
are guilty.
At
this
point, many of you will object to what you’ve just read. Some
of
you believe there is no God, so this is all just a fairy
tale. Some of you agree there is (or at least might be) a
God,
but He has no right to demand your obedience to His rules.
You
may think it’s okay for some people to believe there is a God, but
you have the right to define your own reality so someone else cannot
impose a God
on you. If this describes you, please invest just a few more
minutes and read our
answers to
objections.
If
you believe what you’ve read so far, you realize you have a
problem and you cannot solve it. The good news we have to
share
with you is God has a solution to this problem you
cannot solve.
