OUR PRACTICE - continued
A Prayer Meeting
Devoted to Prayer
We
believe prayer is both the privilege and duty of all
Christians.
It is our conviction that Christians should pray for one another and
for the advancement of God’s work. We believe that God has
commanded His people to pray.
We conduct a prayer
meeting each Wednesday evening and believe this is a vital act of
public worship. Our prayer meeting is purposefully devoted to
praying. A time is set aside specifically to praise God in
prayer. This is followed by prayer for each member of our
church,
the needs of our local congregation, a large number of individuals and
organizations involved in missions, visitors who have recently attended
our services, and other items of special need. We believe God
acts on the prayers of His people in accordance with His will, wisdom,
and unfailing love for His people.
No Public
Offering Collection
We
do not take a public offering. Instead, a box has been placed
at
the rear of our auditorium in which those who choose to give may place
their gifts. We rarely discuss giving from the pulpit, and
when
we do, it is usually in regard to a specific need outside our
church. We are convinced that if God is in our work, He will
provide for our needs through the generosity of His people.
We
believe the New Testament teaches that giving is a private act of faith
between an individual believer and God. We do not believe the
New
Testament sets a specific amount for Christians to contribute, but
rather each individual Christian must determine in his or her own heart
how much they should give to the work of the church. We do
believe, given the central role of local churches, that Christians
should give to local churches before they give to non-church or
para-church organizations.
We believe everything
comes from God. He is honored by gifts from His people and
blesses those who give. The process of determining whether
and
how much to give is intended to help us grow and mature as Christians.
CONCLUSION
We would sincerely appreciate an opportunity to minister to
you.
